Black Intervention is the work of one person who has spent a career being measured against an exacting standard — and who decided to apply that same standard to the most important questions facing Black America. His name is Timothy E. Parker. For thirty years his work has been published, syndicated, and trusted by institutions that do not tolerate sloppiness. This site is what happens when that discipline is pointed at facts that matter.

Timothy E. Parker is recognized by Guinness World Records as a “Puzzle Master” — the world’s most published and most syndicated puzzle creator. He served as the editor of the original USA Today and Universal/uclick crosswords, the puzzles that ran in front of millions of readers every single day. Over a roughly thirty-year media career, his puzzle and assessment work has been syndicated to tens of millions of people and produced for institutional clients including Disney, Microsoft, Warner Bros., the Smithsonian, and, early in his career, Merv Griffin.
Those are not vanity credits. They describe a particular kind of work: content that goes out under a brand’s name, to an audience that will notice the smallest error, with no second chance to correct it before it prints. A single wrong answer in a syndicated puzzle reaches millions of desks before anyone can pull it back. That environment teaches a habit that does not switch off — you check, you source, you verify, and you assume someone smarter than you is reading. Black Intervention is that habit, turned toward facts that carry far more weight than a crossword clue.

An intervention is what you stage when something you love is in trouble and you decide to tell it the truth — carefully, with receipts, out of respect rather than contempt. The 119 long-form articles, the four outcome-based rankings, the verified trivia, the daily fact, and the cited data center all serve that one purpose: to put the strongest available evidence on the table and let it be examined in full view.

Every claim traces to a primary source
Every statistic, ranking input, fact, and trivia answer traces to a real, citable primary source — the FBI Crime Data Explorer, the U.S. Census Bureau and ACS, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, NAEP and NCES, the CDC and County Health Rankings, city financial reports, the Lincoln Institute property-tax study. Crowd-edited encyclopedias and aggregators are never cited or linked. If a figure is not yet confirmed, it appears as Data pending — never invented.
Settled is settled; contested is labeled
Where the evidence is lopsided, we state it plainly as Settled. Where serious researchers genuinely disagree, we mark it Contested and show the disagreement rather than hide it. The reader is never asked to take a conclusion on faith.
Facts pass a two-source myth-screen
Every fact and trivia answer requires two independent authoritative sources, plus a myth-screen on every surprising or commonly-mistaken claim — precisely the kind of detail that, in a syndicated career, costs you everything if you get it wrong.
Rankings score only what the office controls
Rankings measure outcomes a leader can actually influence — never party, never ideology. Each metric is indexed to the U.S. national average, lower-is-better measures like crime are inverted, anti-distortion guards keep a city from ranking high by simply missing its worst metric, and the best always ranks first. Compiled, cited, and adversarially verified.
It funds people learning to read.
The most direct intervention this project makes is not an article or a ranking.
